Fear this joining you would say to me?
Nay! I say you must fear it, for a sea
Of evil you have placed before my path,
And caused the skies to be full, blazing wrath!
Give up that which will cause you woe and pain?
Says you! Who would prevent me from refrains
Of love, the perfect fit, a gentle glove
That sits upon my hand like a mold of
Clay; so shall I be molded to your fear,
That that you may see what I truly hold dear!
Now get thee behind me! I walk my way.
And though you do fine me with taxes, pray
For my ruin as a storm cloud above,
My head is protected by heavens love!
Devil's Bane, (c) Luke Bennette, April 2012

Strange Joy
Strange are the thoughts you give to me,
And stranger still what I now truly see.
How truly strange was this world to me, but
A mere shadow, a stranger whom I cut
By the many practices I held. Strange
That now the very thing I once held strange,
Should cause me to rethink thoughts, estrange my
Person from evils once followed, change. Strange
Is this that now these very same strange thoughts
Now make what I held true seem stranger still!
Could it be by some strange chance that my will
Has become pierced by strange eyes? A lance, shrill
In pain and and strange sorrow, makes me prance
About in wondrous joy! Strange thoughts dance
in my head such as this, borrowed strangers
Eyes do make me think in a strange manner.
Yet though all these strange oddities be here,
In the midst of strangeness I lost my fear!

The Coming Dawn
Despair in the light you who are evil,
For you have already had woeful pills.
Of feasting and glory on earth you had,
And gloried in the baddest of the bad.
Now Light comes further into the world, and
It's bright ray's do stretch so far that none stand
A chance of escaping glorious hands
Made visible by the invisible .
Yet while you listen you do not hear me,
Rather you turn for fear of what you see;
You run for the woods thinking to be safe,
But I told you, from His light is no place
Sheltered enough to withstand his great might!
So flee if you must; we take joy in sight.

Faithless
Standing beside you I glow with hidden
Love that is caused by your radiance; then
A shadow crosses over my thought, fen's
Of shallow water reeks havoc in a
Once lush habitat, and feeds the tender
Soil with most rank and foul disease.
So has my thought of love been overcome
By the thought that though we stand side by side
We know nothing of one another; pride
Keeps the door to our hearts shut, slides the lock
Into place, seals the gateway of our lips
So that not a whisper of truth may slip past.
So like the ocean separates our minds
Do we now ponder the hidden meanings
Within the words that we speak, clinging to
The faith that each places in the others ring;
So we'd sooner die for the other, sing
Joyfully for love, than to be torn asunder.
Yet still in my heart I wonder that you
Are not me, and still I wish that I knew.

Sorrow in Love
Think not upon the silence of your woe,
For to do so is death at the archers bow.
Shall you add more misery and despair
To your horrid state, as you contemplate
The many horrors of war? Do you hate
So much that you have forgotten her sight?
Must you turn her memories into blight,
Mere frost that covers up the dew with cold
To overcome the spring of life with old
Grievances? Better laid to rest with winter
Where death is thus bade to lay in defeat
At the hands of Spring's pure and gentle feat.
Go hence from this place, go elsewhere! Hither
From this place of sorrow and pain, fare well!
Yet know as you go that the pains of hell
Shall follow you still. But you know their sight,
Of their cunning shapes and forms. False light shall
They employ to lead you astray, as faith
Leads to hope then to love so would they wraith
Your faith in doubt, your hope in mistrust, frame
Your love with desire's for power. This
Then is what you must do, call upon her
Who is already dust, that she may kiss
Your soul with sweet memories; as sure as
Spring does come after winter shall she save.
Now go, be no longer hates feeble slave.

Love Undone
You are my brother, and I am bound to you,
But your actions do cause me to so rue
The day that I met your lusting black hide.
For you do make eyes at the ladies, bide
Your time in the shadows and shady streets;
Where many a woman may your form meet.
If you do love me, as brothers ought to,
Then listen to my counsel taught even
To me by one long ago. Sell not your soul.
For though you crave the company true
To your desires you'd commit seven
Atrocities; these things shall take their toll!
Yet by your actions will I abide; stake
My life to choices that I cannot make....

Shattered Hopes
Your beauteous form I commit to sere.
Yet tedious norms cause me to swerve: for
You employ brazen looks for lusting men.
It grieves me to see hooks of fashion bend
A woman from the book of love to end
Her life before she is yet fully grown.
Young as you are and full of passion, sent
Down as a light to overcome the hate
Of my toil, to heal the strife of spate;
But clearly broken by your own designs:
Shattered. Cloven into many pieces;
As a vase that is thrown upon ground.
So like the womb of that vase are you,
Who have given in to man's lust untrue.
