What is need that is should drive us so far,
That it feeds us with nectar cold and dark,
That it breeds such unwholesome thoughts, mars the
Purity of touch, releases evil's wrought
By the desperation that touched us first:
What is need, this thing? Hutch of fate, bars of
Dreaded hate do bring us to our knees, cart
Us along in a swift and speedy car:
That does end differently than we'd hope.
Is this bending of hopes what we call need?
If so then may chaos reign, for such is the
Day when governed by desperation's speed.
But of the truth that inside remains,
Shall our needs be given holy refrains.
Greater Need, (c) Luke Bennette, April 2012

Hope of Evil
Are not the actions you do commit to,
So foul in deed that birds would fall from the sky
To be caught up in their foul, fugly, stentch?
It is right that you should fear me, henchman
Of your master! For he who has power
Over this world is cowardly in deed
If he comes not forth to fight, bleeds not one
Drop of blood in the sight of his foes; bought
Are his servants of darkness and shadow:
Bought are you, reeker of foul breezes. Though
You would smile and make gestures uncooth
So as to deter my spirit, capture
My thought in a cage of anger, as birds
Caught up in the sky by foul winds, words
Such as these shall never ensnare or rope
My soul into chaos; which is your hope.

The Cost
Leave behind you that dark form of evil
That clothes you with hidden passion still. No
Good will come should you abstain good; throw
My counsel into the dust, down the drain!
For though you crave the light you see it not
In your arrogance and pride; for you thought
To purchase light as the cost of others,
Mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Ought
Not the light to be a transformation
A great feat? a holy consummation
To what is right and just? But you do now
Consume what you desire in order
To appease evil's fires. You border
The ring of doom by your order's of gloom.

Works of my Hand
Care for your work as you would a child,
Cherish your work, do not see it mildly,
But with the eyes of a hawk select each
Piece of your work; that you may reach some new
Crease within clay's potentiality.
So shall you overcome the dreary ways of past
Works and bring anew into the world tasks
That have yet to be seen by men's eyes!
Therefore choose your works carefully, so that
History may judge you kind, not despise
The works of your hand as the bane of souls
Yet to perish in the world you create!
For tree's are grown from seeds of fellow trees,
And evil grown from a foul windy breeze.

Task at Hand
Temper your heart with what you desire,
For all else shall be bent to such fire!
And the road shall be far in deeds; indeed!
Thus be careful where your will shall lead; for
As smithies do work on anvils of rage,
Thus be careful where your will shall lead; for
As smithies do work on anvils of rage,
Guided by hands of will, bent by the age
Of their experience, but, more so, blown
By the winds of chance, that are not shown: so
Too the wind that does chance upon you, goes
Without guide or destination, so too
Shall feelings carry you away! Atune
Your heart then, so that the hammer may fall
Upon the sword with grace and ease; pay all
Your strength with little reward otherwise.
For the flame that roams free in your heart
Shall bind you to your work: cause work to part
With it's original intent! And what
Once was at first thought to be defense, shall
Become merely a pretense, a small fence
That may be jumped with ease, whenever you
Feel like it, whenever you please! Then death
Shall find you, shall smite you down as hammer
Blows from Smithies; for fell are his feelings.
So focus you must upon tasks at hand!
Lest emotion carry fell reprimand.

Silent Words
Indifferent is my being, true.
But you sent me reeling through that lobby,
Made apathy seems far away! New
Thoughts that, once seemed dimwit hobbies, become
All to present to my woken eyes: lit
With a fire, much to my surprise. Hit
By the aura of your presence I am
Transformed, no more famished inside, humbled
By the weight of my, oh, so foolish pride!
For if I said I didn't care, I lied.
Yet though we have said much without a word,
There is still much that is yet to be heard.
For grievances that beset us still are,
Do bare their teeth, and keep afar our words.

Hold Fast
14) c) Worn by wrathful words my head is not clear.
But then comes a sound that brings me back; tears.
What tension lies within your heart that causes
Such dissension among your greater parts,
That you should dwell ever more on hearts flaws?
Torn by the fear of what you might think I
Place my hand upon your tear stained cheek. Jeers
Have you endured, and more are yet to come,
But stay your thoughts, lest you should become a
Dark! So caught will you flee my kind hands?
Fluff and nonsense are dreams that do drum one
To war with themselves; they turn your gaze in,
Ever in do they turn you to your past,
Therein you must not dwell, hold fast, to me!
