Together and yet apart

O what a team of horses you'd all make!
How you'd whinny about the darkened track
Without a driver; having no whips slake
Upon your backs or keep you from the hack!
You turn about in every way until
You stand before her; but still you will fill
Up your minds with individual hopes:
Foolish as you are! Mere dogs, and such dopes
As did put old Dopey the dwarf to shame!
None of you will take each other to tame.
So when you reach the hack look out old boy!
Lest she turn you, as she is an old which,
Into a veritably ancient toy.
Work together while you still have a hitch.
